Spendimate is built to be private by default. Your spending stays on your phone, and we don’t run accounts or servers that collect it. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to your data.
Who we are
Spendimate (“the app”, “we”) is an iOS app that helps you keep a rough picture of your spending. It is made by an independent developer. If you have any questions about this policy, email slavenko.dev@gmail.com.
Your entries stay on your device
The purchases you log are stored locally on your iPhone, in the app’s own on-device storage. Spendimate has no user account and no server of its own — we never collect, upload, or keep a copy of your spending data. If you delete an entry, or delete the app, that data is gone from your device.
What happens when you log a purchase
To turn your words or a photo into an entry, the app needs to “read” what you give it using AI. When you type, speak, or take a photo:
- The text, audio, or image is sent for that one request to Google’s Gemini AI, which identifies the item(s), estimates a cost, and picks a category.
- The request is routed through our own lightweight proxy (hosted on Cloudflare) so that our AI credentials aren’t embedded in the app. The proxy passes the request along; it does not store your content.
- Once the response comes back, the input is discarded. Photos and audio are used only in memory and are never saved — not on your device beyond the moment of capture, and not by us.
Typing is processed the same way as voice and photos. In all cases the content is used to parse that single purchase and is not retained afterward.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand roughly how the app is used (for example, how many logs are made), Spendimate may send anonymous, aggregate usage events through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. These events are limited to plain, categorical signals — never your amounts, item names, currency, or any free text, and nothing that could identify you. There are no advertising identifiers and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. If analytics are not configured for a build, none are sent at all.
What we do not collect
- No account, sign-in, name, or email is required to use the app.
- No location data. The app does not request or use your location.
- No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no third-party trackers.
- Nothing that links usage data to your identity.
Third-party services
Two services process data on our behalf, only as described above:
- Google Gemini — receives the text, audio, or image for a single request to parse the purchase, then it is discarded. See Google’s Gemini API terms.
- Cloudflare — hosts the proxy that forwards those requests; content passes through in transit and is not stored by us. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- TelemetryDeck — receives anonymous, aggregate usage events (if enabled). See TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy.
Data retention and your choices
Your entries remain on your device until you remove them. You can delete any single entry from within the app, or remove all local data by deleting the app. Because your spending data never leaves your device for us to hold, there is nothing on our side to request or erase.
Children’s privacy
Spendimate is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the text here and revise the “last updated” date above. Meaningful changes will be reflected before they take effect.
